Welcome to the website of Crowded Croft, a fine ceilidh band and without doubt the best thing
to come out of Helensburgh since telly.
Originally a duo combining the talents of Alasdair Allan (violin) and Andy Clark (guitar), Crowded Croft evolved into a three piece with the arrival of drummer Andy Bruce in 2005. Gigs aplenty followed, taking the trio all over Scotland for weddings, functions and folk festivals. Next a four piece line up was introduced with the signing of singer and bassist Stuart Cowan, enabling Crowded Croft to cover an impressively broad range of musical genres for all occasions. And here we are up and running in cyberspace where you can listen to sound clips, email the band for bookings and yes buy the t-shirts.
You can
email the band for further more information on bookings and so on at this address:info@crowdedcroft.co.uk or alternatively, you can call Andy B on 07799 872208

News
July and August 2008
We're on holiday! Right in the middle of the busy season! We've never had much commercial sense. See you in the autumn.
June 23 - The D Tour
Well we wind up our little summer tour this Saturday after gigs in Dollar, Dumbarton, Denny, Dundee and Dinveraray. Thanks for listening, dancing and not being too disappointed when we say we can't play Come On Eileen.
Scottish Hockey: You're our besshhttt mates, yez are
We'd been looking forward to it for a while and it didn't disappoint. Our return to the Scottish Hockey Awards in Dundee was another triumph for the "rock" Croft with our very own human jukebox Stu effortlessly taking requests in his stride. Rugby legend and broadcaster John Beattie compered the event and we were the entertainment. Smashin' bunch of folk these hockey types. Delighted to say we've been invited back for a third time next year otherwise we would've just taken up hockey and come along for the party.
Set list updated
Just to say in the FAQs page there's now a list of the ceilidh dances as well as pop stuff we do with Stu.
Andy Clark - New website #2
Andy's got a new website for when he has his composer hat on. You can download some of his recent music for film there. Darn impressive. Click here.
October 5 - Crowded Crieff - updated
We've said it before and we'll say it again. Hydro, Schmydro. The best night out in town is to be found at the Tower Hotel. A low key pub gig turned into a mass ceilidh frenzy with impromtu Gay Gordons in the bar, the hall and the kitchens. Head for youtube.com and you'll find the clips. Quite funny. And there's photos here.
Andy Clark - New website
After one or two technical glitches, Andy's own website is now up and running. So if you want a pianist / guitarist / bassist / saxophonist / singer / songwriter / composer or lessons in any of the above, go here.
Two Step DJs - New website
And Alasdair's also been getting his side-project up to scratch. The last Thursday in the month is where the mighty Two Step DJs do their stuff at Tinderbox on Byres Road, 8.30 onwards. Splendid website.
The difficult second album.
There's now a second Crowded Croft cd doing the rounds. 14 tracks and fabulous artwork courtesy of Mortons of Glasgow. Email us if you want a copy. We are charging a fiver for it but we usually end up desperately handing them out to anyone who'll bother to listen. As a taster, you can download Archie and Bumble Boogie here. One day we'll get round to recording some stuff with Stuart.
Make sure you visit the croft again soon. Cheers.
